Uniqlo Tokyo

  • commercio

An existing department store was transformed into a flagship store for Uniqlo. In an exercise of design through subtraction, Herzog & de Meuron stripped away the conventional retail interior to reveal the functionality and simplicity of the building's original concrete skeleton. Slabs were cut away to create a four-storey plaza that allows for visitors to see and be seen and extend the vitality and voyeurism of Ginza street life into the building.
